  1. HISTORY OF UPGRADES SINCE 4.2L
  2. upgrade v4.2L 7/27/94
  3.  1) Winmenu now executes the programs in the "startup" group of
  4.  Program Manager when running as the Windows' shell. 
  5.  2) You may optionally setup Winmenu to ask for confirmation when
  6.  exiting. See online help under The [Options] section.

  8. upgrade v5.0 11/10/94
  9.  1) Winmenu now uses a file format similar to the Program Manager
  10.  to store the menu definitions. The file has extension of .GRP
  11.  and allow much faster loads and consume less memory. The utility
  12.  WCONVERT.EXE now is included to allow users of previous versions
  13.  to convert the INI file to .GRP files. The INI files are still 
  14.  used only to store user switches and other configuration data. 
  15.  2) Drag-and-drop may be used to move menu items positions across
  16.  pages in a menu section. 
  17.  3) Users may now drag-and-drop menu items into a TRASH can to 
  18.  delete them.
  19.  4) The Menu Maintenance dialog allow administrators to enter
  20.  a file server, volume and path to use when executing an appli-
  21.  cation. This is used to optionally attach and detach to another
  22.  file server for executing the application. Great for users of 
  23.  CDROM file servers where the login access may be limited.
  24.  5) The Menu Maintenance dialog also allow administrators to
  25.  set a maximum count of users that may be allowed to use any
  26.  given application concurrently.  Great to meet software license
  27.  agreements and control the use of resources.
  28.  6) Users may now rename the pages in each menu section to further
  29.  organize the applications. 
  30.  7) The online help modules have been revisited to account for 
  31.  enhancements and changes.

  34. 1) GPF errors with some screen savers is fixed.
  35. 2) Access rights to files and directories are now working properly.
  36. 3) GPF error when executing some applications is also corrected
  37. 4) Online help information updated

  40. 1) The MAP= field can now be used to map a data drive.
  41.    Previous version used this field exclusively to execute a program.
  42.    v5.0J can now map a data drive and execute the program from one of the
  43.    current available drives.  If a drive letter is specified in the
  44.    Command Line and WorkDir fields, Winmenu will not use the drive
  45.    mapped in the MAP= to execute the program.  The mapped drive can
  46.    then be used by the executing program for data access.

  48.    Note: Drives mapped by the MAP= field are "unmapped" when the 
  49.    executing program terminates.  Unless another executing program is 
  50.    using the same drive.

  53. 1) Routine that checks the network was enhanced to properly detect
  54. the network under Windows NT 3.5 .  Winmenu now works under WFWG, NT
  55. and Windows 3.1 and above.  SHOuld work for WIndows 95 (a.k.a Chicago).

  95. 1) Winmenu can now read Program Manager groups (GRP files).
  96. 2) Enhanced memory management below 1Meg.

  99. 1) A fix was added for properly maximizing Winmenu using a 
  100. very high video resolution and large fonts. 
  101. 2) An adjustment to the routine that unmaps drives was added
  102. for better performance.

  105. 1) Modified to properly work for VLM and NETX clients.
